It has been awhile…

Yes, it has been awhile since my last post. I don’t know if I have anymore writing skills, that’s if I had any to begin with. Heh.

To be quite honest, I don’t remember much what I have been up to over the past few weeks besides work. I went to the usual Thursday tahlil and my grandparents tonight after MIA for 2 consecutive weeks. Of course, my Nini Girl being the Nini Girl that I love said to me when I salam-ed her, ‘Inda keraja malam ani?’ Sindir tu. Hehe.

I know I couldn’t go last Thursday as I was working late but I don’t really remember what I did the week before. Maybe I was in a meeting late as well. However, my days of working late are over… for now. Actually, I doubt I’ll be working late anytime soon except maybe sometime next week when I have to audit my staff’s reports.

It is now past my bedtime. I’m tired and I have no idea what to write. Actually, I have saved 4 drafts but never got around to complete and publish them. Haha. I suppose I should publish this now before I end up just saving it.

Have a good weekd y’all!

See you

I’m still tired.

It has been awhile since I last left the office after 6 but for the past 2 weeks, my meetings would last till way, way after 6. Last night I only left the office at 8. It’s probably the norm for some of you but this girl always leave at 5 – 5.30 so you can imagine what it has done to me.

I could rant, but I’m too tired. Its 8pm and I’m still in my work clothes.

I think I need to get shoes.

How it started…

I decide to post this 2 days earlier as I will be busy next week and might not be able to post this as promised to Ness & Fina. Hehe.

Over 3 years ago, a heartbrokened girl vowed to never date boys anymore. She would only consider men who were 27 years of age and has a a stable job. She also said in passing that she would never get engaged until her wedding date is set and at most, 6 months before the date. The girl was me.

Winter (Southern) 2003, I decided to go back to uni, where AG said to me, ‘I know a guy who is as white and round as you, both of you will be perfect together’. As I was not into matchmaking, I laughed it off and said, ‘No, thank you’. AG would continue to tell tales of this boy, even when she was back in Brunei and I was still in Brisbane.

On 14th August, AG texted me late, late afternoon saying, ‘its his birthday tomorrow, you should text and wish him. his number is 87*****’. I think I said, ‘malas ku eh. membari hawar’ plus i had no idea how he looked like, who he is, his circle of friends, how old he is, etc. Basically, I only knew his place of work, his number and that his birthday was the next day, I barely knew his name.

Come 15th August, I did what I would normally do on a Friday then- uni, laundry and I had a facial appointment that day. I also remember telling Spikez and Jim about it- their response was, ‘msg saja wah. you’ve got nothing to lose. ia di brunei, ko di sini. lagipun ia mana tau phone number mu and ko siapa’ or something along those lines. So yes, I texted him. I composed and recomposed the text during lecture and only sent it after lecture.

On my way to the bus, I texted AG and told her I did text him, she was all excited. On the bus, he replied with the usual ‘thank you. who is this?’ and I remember replying, ‘just a girl who wants to wish you a happy birthday’ and then texts flew back and forth until I went for my facial, where after that, I received a phone call from an anonymous caller. Without thinking, I answered it but there was no one at the other end. Thinking it was AG, calling from Brunei asking for update, I texted her and she called back. Turned out it wasn’t her and many, many months after that, I found out it was his brother, calling from Melbourne, who later reported to him ‘bini2 jawab numbur atu’. Haha.

Oh, when I was updating AG on the phone, I also went on the wrong bus and had to walk home halfway!

It was only texting each other for awhile then chatting on the Internet and the occasional phone calls. Most of the time, it was harmless (we would like to think so though!) as he had a girlfriend and I was seeing someone casually and was having an on-off affair with my ex. Hey, I was young and single- don’t judge! LOL.

I met him for the first time at Taurean during my Spring Break- I was with my girls and he was with his boys. Again, it was casual plus nothing could come out of it as he went to Japan for work for the duration of my holiday. Things started to happen during my Summer holiday. We bumped into each other a couple of times and when both sets of parents approved of our non-existant relationship, we decided to give it a real go. By this time, he was no longer with his girlfriend and I have decided that I deserve better than my good for nothing ex, who was stringing me along and promising me the sun, the moon and the stars.

The rest is history. Less than a year after that, he wanted to get married but I told him to wait till I have a stable job. I started working in May and by 3rd July, I was his fiancee. By 1st January (technically 23rd December), I became his wife.

The day I first texted him Happy Birthday, my husband turned 27.

So boys & girls, wish for the best- it might just come true. Mine did :)

Stumped.

Previously, I wanted to get my husband a portable hard disk so he can transfer his photos on the go without having to bring the laptop. When we were in Singapore, he bought it.

Then, in Singapore, his backpack was falling apart and I thought that I should get him a new one. We then found a good Samsonite bag but he didn’t want to get it yet as we’re not travelling anytime soon. So, you think I should get it? I thought so too until recently.

Him: By the way sayang, you don’t have to buy me the Samsonite bag.

Me: *jaws dropped* How do you know I was going to buy you that?

Him: *laughed*

Tonight I asked him again

Me: What do you want for your birthday?

Him: Jangantah. Its okay.

Me: How do you know I was going to buy you the bag?

Him: Pasal you inda pandai berlakon.

Oh, thanks love! Hehe. You should be grateful I’m a bad actress. Hehe.

Everytime his birthday comes around, it brings back memories on how we got together. I don’t know if I’ve blogged about it or not. Hehe.

I’ve only given him birthday presents twice- 2004 when I was till in Brisbane and last year. Have we only been together that long? Hehe.

Ooh. I think I know what to get him now. I just hope he hasn’t changed his mind.

Swamped.

I am swamped with work among other things.

I have to go work in Sg. Liang again tomorrow and I’m driving this time. I’m taking Saturday off to recuperate but I have to be at work by 11.30am- inda pedah lah sikit.

Next week there will be more office functions- a birthday dinner (Spike’s event!), launching of our Express Banking Centre, launching of our Kids Centre, finalising my baby project, starting a new project (in which last year when Spike did it they used to stay till 11pm! Not Happy!), anticipating approval on another project to be held in 2 weeks (I hate last minute approvals!) and of course, the never ending meetings!!!! Sometimes one wonders how things get done if you keep on having meetings.

Me? Stressed? Nadalah. Sometimes I enjoy the adrenalin rush from all these but other times, I wish I could just stay home and watch more dvds.

Thank God for my nice colleagues. Everyday we always send encrypted mails to each other.

Today’s email included things such as, ‘you boys are so sissy. takut rambut rosakkah?’ and ‘i’m hungry. i have no mood. can we just eat at zakhwan’s instead of gripps.’

If only the bosses knew how much we abuse the system. Hehe.

Irresponsible Bruneians

Last night, a few of us went to Bandar for Tanglong, in which we were disappointed beucase there were no tanglong!Only kereta and basikal berhias (I only found out the latter when they announced the winners).

Anyways, our night started with walking to Bandar from Kiulap. Yes, we parked in Kiulap because we thought it would be difficult to get into Bandar by car. It was a good walk, however. Plus, it could be the only time I would walk from Kiulap to Bandar, ever! Hah.

If you went to the Tattoo Parade weeks ago and thought it was packed, last night was worst. I don’t think ‘betamu gigi’ does it any justice. But I was disappointed with one thing (a few things towards the end as I fot more tired), and that was how IRRESPONSIBLE many Bruneians were. Berjurit wah sampah ani! It was disgusting! We had guests from neighboring countries and yet these people inda malu. Last night was one night where I would be embarassed to tell people I was a Bruneian. Siriusly!

My brother thought that there were not enough bins around but at the end of the night, when there were lights and less people, there were more than enough bins around- full, of course after the Bandaran people cleaned up the place (fast & efficient too, if I might add).

But seriously people, how difficult it is to hold on to your rubbish until you could find yourself a rubbish bin? And you know what pissed me off the most? People saying, ‘apatah gunanya orang bandaran kana bayar gajinya?’ Seriously?

The whole thing made me lost my mood and didn’t enjoy the night as much as I wanted to. Irresponsible people. Psft.

Oh, I had coffee at De Royalle too last night. Mostly because Coffee Bean was packed and my sister-in-law knows Igantius well. The Three Layer Tea was not bad and so was the Mashed Potatoes but I didn’t enjoy the environment as much as Coffee Bean.

If you’re wondering whether we walked back to Kiulap or not- we didn’t. My brother parked his car in Bandar earlier, so he drove us back to Kiulap. We only arrived home around 2 and I wasn’t a happy bunny. Tired, sleepy and bored towards the end of the night. Luckily, I brought a book to keep myself occupied towards the end of the night. If you saw someone leaning or sitting on random things reading a Picoult book, that was probably me.

I’m Here!

Okay, so it has only been couple of days since my last post.

I have yet to reply some comments too.

I am finally in the working groove, if there is ever such thing, and I am not going anywhere in the next couple of months.

I’m still going to watch the tattoo thing tonight, albeit everyone but one person bad reviews on it. I guess I have to decide on my own, yeah? However, to be on the safe side, we’re taking 2 cars tonight, just in case it is really boring, then we can leave early. Contingency my friend.

Hey, I’m not getting better at this am I. I think this post is worst than last week’s.

Oh, I passed RTB today and I reckon that the birthday arch was designed by a girl. It has pretty flower and pretty pastel colours. You guys should have a look at it. Its cute. Heh.

Speaking of cute, have you seen the Fair & Lovely advert? I know its been around for awhile and one of my aunts like to mock it by doing it to my uncle, embarassing her kids. Haha. Anyways, I’m getting sick of the advert, just as I am sick of the Power Root advert.

Crap. I think now you know that I watch Astro Ria. Haha.
