Knackered.

I think I have lost count on how many of my posts are titled ‘Knackered’.

Banar. Ngalih ku. We have to stay late at work tomorrow despite it being a half day. Hari Raya Decoration Competition of some sort and judging is on Monday.

I also have a whole tray of pending work because I was sent off to purchase hari raya decorations this afternoon and hence, real work was put on hold.

Plus I have just realised that it’s the end of the month, which means I have auditing to do.

And it is also the end of the quarter, which also means that TPM reviews need to be done. Having 2 additional direct reports would not make it any easier. Although I remember reading somewhere that if a new staff moves to a different department/ section after July, the previous head of department/ section is responsible of the review. I might just be lucky. Heh.

I hope this time I don’t make any of my direct reports cry again.

And oh, I have verbal approval for a week’s leave next month.

Good night pretty people!

Marhaban Ya Ramadhan

so i’ve done few posts already during ramadhan. okay, maybe one but i haven’t done a proper ramadhan post.

as kajim pointed out yesterday, it is my first ramadhan as a wife. i remember her asking me last year why i didn’t want to get married before ramadhan. my answer was- i don’t want to rush it because i know we will be spending many more ramadhans together. eseh. hehe.

so yes, this is my first ramadhan as a wife and it is a different experience for many reasons.

the main one is bangun sahur. my family and some of my friends (yang pernah tinggal sama aku) would know that i am not a sahur person. i usually wake up 5 minutes before subuh to have a glass of water and a few kurma then pray. i prefer this than waking up 10 mins before subuh habis. why you ask? emm. more because i can go back to sleep and wake up with enough time to shower before going to work. kalau zaman muda2 dulu, bangun akhir pulang tu. however, now, i have to wake up for sahur because my husband wakes up for sahur! my family has had a good time teasing me about it.

“baru ko tau terpaksa bangun sahur. dulu kan tidur saja keraja mu.”

oh well. the beauty of it, i get to start the day with sembahyang subuh berimam with the husband, albeit us going back to sleep after that. hehe.

another reason is i go to the mosque for terawikh prayers- alone! zaman muda-muda dulu (haha! i like using this. kira time belum kahwin lah ni. not that i’m that old, really.), i would pray at my grandparents’ place. we did go there the first night in bunut but after that we went to the mosque. the husband is fond of praying terawikh at the mosque as he really enjoys the environment. so yes, i went with him. what i meant by alone was arah bini-bini- alone. i’ve never done this before. heh.

it is nice though, you don’t get to talk inda tantu with people and hope that my ibadah has more berkat and kena terima Allah. i had to pray for forgiveness because i was annoyed with the lady next to me- ia membaca-baca nyaring. but then i got used to it, especially since the mosque punya speakers on full blast. heh. terkajut saja awal2nya.

and oh, it is also the first time i do terawikh prayers at masjid jerudong. the environment is completely different from masjid bunut. i was walking pass the concourse and azan isya came on- it felt like you were either in Mekah or Madinah. it was really, really nice and brought me to ask the husband, -’bila tani umrah, sayang?’

so that’s my post. i would love to write a more religious post but i am lacking in that department and since i am still learning, i don’t want to post inda tantu- takut salah.

so, wishing all of you Happy Ramadhan, Maaf Zahir & Batin. Semoga ibadah kitani diterima Allah di bulan yang mulia ini.

lots of love.

Ubat Batuk Gamat Hurix

No. I am not advertising it. Inda jua kana bayar. Heh.

Anyways, this post actually triggers from my cousin, Ghasidah’s post. I haven’t linked her yet because previously she didn’t want to be link. Huhu. I will do so later.

Sometime last year, I was admitted to the hospital for chest infection. Eksen pulang tu. Sebenarnya I had a case of asthma but it was trigged by chest infection so I like to call it that rather than asthma. The experience was horrible I tell you. I couldn’t get a first class room because there were none left. I was stuck in a ward surrounded by old ladies. By old, I mean at least 60. I only stayed for a night, the second night, I went home and came back before the doctors did their rounds. The beauty of staying in a ward instead of a room is that it is not that sunyi!

I remember getting a text from a friend the night I stayed over on something like the gates at STPRI will be opened, etc. etc. Siapa jua inda takut tu?? I made sure I slept before midnight but the nurse came to ambil darah or blood pressure before that. And there I was trying to sleep before the STPRI gate opened. Haha. Yes, that was last year and tuha sudah pun masih takut.

Eh. Melarat. I’m blogging because of ubat batuk. During this time, my aunt introduced me to Ubat Batuk Gamat Hurix. It has got Gamat and Madu. Na, namanya syrup lai. Hehehe. Love you! It worked wonders although I was throwing up half of the time (which apparently was good!) and hence, I introduced it to anyone yang damam.

Many weeks after that, my sister fell sick and was coughing real bad. I told her to makan ubat batuk gamat. Since we were at our grandparents that time, we asked the maid to go buy it from Barkat (this kadai india which is now called something other than barkat. Barkat was its first name pulang tu and I still call it that.).

Balik tia membawa ubat ah and ampainya atas meja makan. My uncle wanted to have a look at it whilst my sister asked the maid to get her a spoon.

U: Lai, apa nama ubatnya ani?

Me: Ubat Batuk Gamat Hurix. Ada campur madu tu.

U: Ubat Batuk? Ani Minyak Urut Gamat ni.

Everyone panicked pasal diurang pikir my sister makan ubat atu sudah. Awu, membunuh anak orang tu. Haha.

So Ghasidah, if you’re sick and kan makan ubat batuk gamat atu- MAKE SURE IT IS UBAT BATUK GAMAT and NOT MINYAK URUT GAMAT. Huhu.

Sorry if my post doesnt make sense. I was reading my old posts before this and I reckon I was more interesting before. I think work is turning me into a boring person. Huhuhu.

Grey’s Premieres Today!

I don’t really have much to say except that I need to learn how to download torrents again as Grey’s Season 3 will start today!

Oh, the husband has also downloaded zuma on my laptop.

So yes, I am a happy bunny. It should keep me occupied while waiting for my books from amazon.com to arrive. I have a feeling I can’t wait that long and might just pop by to several book shops over the weekend to get more books.

If I don’t write over the next few days, wishing everyone Happy Ramadhan.

Go Eowyns!

I am no Lord of the Rings fan but apparently Eowyn (when it is singular!) is a pretty girl. Yesterday, my team mates & I were called Eowyn (I called it the Eowyns!) at the PFS Teambuilding event.

It was fun, fun, fun but extremely tiring. After a long, long time most of us were back at the Jerudong Park Playground. We thought, ‘wow. barutah the workers meliat ramai orang cemani kali ni’. There must’ve been at least 150 of us- 200 if everyone turned up.

If you were wondering who was on my team- it was someone from my past. Zaman dahulu kala. Haha. Yes, we now work together. LOL.

The team leader was actually this Exec from another department. By Exec, I mean a colleague who gets paid way, way more than I do. Unfortunately, he said that he’s too sick to be the team leader. Anywaysss, the day started great! We were supposed to prepare a 3 course meal with a budget. I was in charge of the drinks- 35 cents Suci never tasted better for this mineral water snob! I had 2 bottles. Mau manang punya pasal. I delegated a colleague to prepare the main course and starter- mee goren w/ chicken wings for the former and cucumber for the latter.

However, she forgot to prepare the starter. She did, however, bought limau kasturi to eat with the mee goreng.

Being the team leader (haha!), one had to be prepared for occassions like this. Upon presenting our food, which was verified against our receipts, I said to the judges proudly, ‘our starter is limau kasturi. masam-masam sikit supaya membuka rasa untuk makan’. The faces on some of my team members and judges were priceless. Suffice to say, they asked me to finish the kasturis, which of course I refused. Huhu.

But yes. We all had fun. I couldn’t go on the log ride, bumper cars and paddle boat but I did play in the shooting gallery. Trying to get into the gallery was horrible! We couldn’t figure out the password that we ended up reading almost everything on the paper.

At the end of the day, the team leaders were asked to stand in the middle, encircled by their team members standing 5 feet away. We had a gayung (i almost said baldi!) half filled with cooking oil and my team members each had a balloon filled with water and flour. They had to throw it into the gayung! I stretched myself as far as I could, so they could just drop the balloon into the gayung instead- it worked! However, my body is as sore as it can be today.

If you saw people walking towards Holiday Lodge between 5.30pm – 6.00pm, that was probably us. When it started to rain, we were hailing random cars and finally got a ride, where 5 of us squeezed into another team’s car.

And oh, I fell asleep at 7.30pm and only woke up at 8am this morning. It has been awhile since I last did a lot of walking and running. I think my exercise quota is filled for the rest of the year :D

Tai Chi

As usual, I am far too busy to write a proper post.

This weekend is filled with doa arwahs & tahlils. Over the week, I had more trainings and meetings, in which I could hardly sit down and focus on my work.

Today will be interesting. Our department, as in whole department (150 – 200 perhaps), has organised a teambuilding event at the Playground. It is expected to finish later than 6pm. It should be interesting not just because my good friend who just loves mental games is the main organiser for it but als because I have an interesting team member. Am not going to say who. Haha. But I can tell you it is going to be VERY interesting. I suppose it is all in the name of teamwork.

And oh, the actual team leader has ‘tai-chi-ed’ his responsibilities to me. I am now unofficially the team leader- because from the team list, apparently he thinks Im the only who is capable.

I think he lied. I think because I was the only one who replied his email.

Quote

A strong team leader is a person who is better at tai-chi-ing responsibilities and tasks

Unquote

This is true where I work. Banar. I see if I can do this later to prove I’m a strong leader. Haha.

Wish us luck! We have already been penalised 3 mins for changing team leaders and the game has not even started! Brilliant!

Thinking About Food on a Saturday Night

The husband has gone to a function at his best friend’s place and I have chose not to join him. Reason being I don’t know anyone I know who’s going and I am in no mood to make small talk to people I like or I’m indifferent to. Plus, I’m knackered and I might just end up being a bad company.

I had sushi twice this week. I don’t think one can ever be kelamuan of sushi. Okay, fine, one can be kelamuan of sushi (Hi Shakz! Hehe.) but my cravings for california rolls were not satisfied when I had lunch at Misato middle of the week. Althought the Bombay Roll rocks but the californial rolls are nowhere near Excapade’s. Plus the fact that our staff discount at Excapade is higher than the discount at Misato makes eating there sweeter. I guess you can tell that these 2 places are my favourite Jap joints!

I am trying to think if I am passionate about any other food joints like I am with Excapade but I can’t think of any. My lunches are usually spent at eithr Babu’s, Jollibee, CAM Yayasan, Ideal, KFC, Pinky Blues and sometimes Zakhwan. Now you can see why I try to get out of Bandar for lunch. Atu baru kelamuan makan di Bandar. Usually we always end up at Babu’s and order nasi campur. I know the place is far from glamorous but its fast and serves green tea. Haha. I know a friend who is afraid to venture to the food court there in fear of getting raped.

Below are what I tend to order

Babu’s- Nasi Campur, Buttermilk Chicken, Tom Yam Soup and Ikan Assam Pedas. I don’t actually have anything bad to say to them except that everytime I call to order they always go, ‘lagi?’

Jollibee- Either Spaghetti or Chicken with chips but the chicken now smells funky, macam inda fresh

CAM- Roti Telur or Mee Mamak. I used to order Roti Norbi a lot but lambat wah kalau order atu.

Ideal- Chicken Spaghetti or Chicken with the cheesy chips. Although, half of the time the cheesy chips are soggy.

KFC- Zingerrrrrr! Or the Snack plate when I’m very hungry! Hehe. I tried the Cheesy Meltz kah apakah tu namanya but the picture penipu. Its soooo small and sikit!

Pinky Blues- Indomie for the days I’m craving for it! Usually on Friday mornings. Haha. At times, service can be quite sloww.

Zakhwan- Nasi Pattani. That’s all. Portions are always big!

Enough about food. Karang tengah malam bangun craving for more food. Heh.

Have a good weekend all! Or what’s left of it anyways :D

E-what?

The Internet connection at my place has been terrible, hang on, actually non-existant and it has been more than 3 weeks. The ISP provider kept on saying, ‘from our side there’s nothing wrong, it should be okay’. Then they said, ‘orang kami ke rumah-rumah tu mengusai, tunggu saja 2-3 hari’ then it was ‘Madewa exchange to punya kraja, jantah kita menelipun, kami saja menelipun’.

Seriously, WTF is going on kan? The helpline is not helping, really.

Okay, besides that work has been a b**** and thank god, I have tomorrow & Saturday off. I said to my boss earlier today that even if she didn’t give me permission to go off, I might take an MC anyway. It’s not that bad actually but for the past few days I had to handle difficult customers.

On Tuesday, I had an angmo who said to me, ‘you make sure you tell your boss that i think she’s rude’. she also then said to me, ‘no, i don’t want to deal with you. when i come i want to see your manager.’ and this was after explaining to her that I was the officer-in-charge and will assist her in anyway.

On Wednesday, I had to cut my lunch short because a customer’s lawyer threatened to write to my CEO because we did not follow up fast enough. What he didn’t know was that no one would pick up our call. PSFT. Plus, it turned out that the lawyer was pissed because he had to chase the customer instead of us. Jadinya ko kana bayar mahal-mahal inda mau assist customer?

Today, I was in a meeting and my staff insisted on speaking to me. Turned out a high-profile customer, who likes to make a fuss when present, wanted some things and there were no other officers around. I had to help withdraw his money, request his cheque book, make sure the singapore notes were clean and after all that, he couldn’t even spell my name despite me giving my business card to him! His secretary called me later in the afternoon and pronounced my name all wrong.

So, you guys have no idea how relieved I am to be taking the next few days off. Plus, this afternoon everyone kept on saying to me, ‘are you sick?’ or ‘are you feeling okay?’ I suppose it was just a polite way of saying, ‘you look horrible’. However, one added ‘you look pale and you look like you’re going to faint’. I did feel light-headed the whole afternoon and had to sit most of the time. I’m feeling much better now after taking a nap for awhile before.

wow. this is a long post. it should make up for my lack of post. heh.
