Those Little Yellow Signs
They are everywhere! Macam everytime you’re stuck in a traffic, the car in front of you or next to you will most likely have one of those signs.
I am sure most of you have seen this. The signs varied- from the Future Millionaire to Stupid Yellow Sign to Baby on Board to Princess on Board to everyone’s ultimate favourite- MUN PAHAM BISAI!!!
The first two were among the first ones I saw, back in Australia. Once, I even received ‘Babe on Board’, courtesy of FCUK. The husband & I would always go, ‘So?’ together everytime we saw a Baby on Board sign. Or, ‘Princess mana lagi ni ah?’ when we saw a Princess on Board sign. Kali kami belum ada anak but we told ourselves that we would not put that sign on when we do more because we don’t really see the point. Hehe. But then again, karang beranak simpan jua tu. LOL.
Today, the husband & I decided to run some errands in the morning. It is actually the first time we run errands on Friday morning. We initially wanted to go to pantai Jerudong for the fishes and pasar Gadong for orchids but decided it was too late sudah. Macam banar. Haha. We actually went to Mata-Mata and Kiulap but it was the latter, where we encountered a lot of card with those yellow signs!!
We found one that said, ‘Sudah membaca doa naik kenderaan? Mun Paham Bisai!‘ Entah ah. If that was suppose to remind one to baca doa, the mun paham bisai bit just make you lost it.
However, this was nothing compared to the one we saw not long after that.
‘Jangan luan laju-laju. Sweet Angle Inside.’
No. That was not my typo. Maybe not exact sentences but I can assure you it said Angle.
If it was me, sibukku kan membayar mun salah taip atu. So I am thinking, banar2 kali orang atu mau ANGLE and not ANGEL.
I was watching Gilmore Girls earlier and it was the episode where Layne/ Lane (Rory’s Korean bestfriend!) was having her Hen’s Night. There were in veils and crowns.
Somehow, it just reminded me of my Hen Night, almost a year ago. Last night, my girls were saying how this time last year they were busy preparing for my Hen’s Night. Erk. Yes, it is almost a year into my marriage. Hehe.
I think I posted a little something about my Hen’s Night before but since that blog has decided to disappear on me, I can’t really confirm.
Sometime last December, my girls decided to hold a Hen’s Night for me. They even prepared a little invitation for me (which they forgot to give it to me! Hehe!) and had all sorts of crazy games planned! But I was good, we didn’t get to play some of the crazy games. Hehe.
When I told the parental unit that I will be spending the Saturday Night with my girls at an undisclosed place before my wedding, my aunt said to me, ‘Lai, kalau orang putih diurang selalu ada Hen’s Night before their wedding. They would get drunk and have strippers’. I only giggled and mumbled. I can’t really say that I’m having one because they have already made up their mind what a Hen’s Night entails! Haha.
No drinks (alcohol nada. tongkat ali ada. LOL!) and strippers (real ones nada. accidentals ada!), the girls & I managed to have lots and lots of fun. We had a 3-bedroom penthouse but we all (7 of us!) slept in one bedroom. Security was called to check on us because apparently we were making a lot of noise. He would not even believe that there were only 7 of us then!
Of course, what is a night with my girls if we did not end up embarassing ourselves, right? Haha. Plus, it was also good for our ego thinking that we can still manage to pick up guys.
If sometime last year, you saw a bunch of pretty girls in veils, sashes and crowns with a decorated car driving around Brunei, making a lot of noises, honking cute random guys, laughing so hard and just pretty much having a good time- that was us!
But shhhhhh, don’t give away all of our identities nor the car we used- we all have respectable dayjobs! Haha.
Oh, this reminds me- Mie, may I please have copies of pictures from that Hen’s Night! If any of the pictures are okay to publish, I will post some up. Hehe.
Sunday at the Movies
Spent the afternoon away watching Casino Royale with the husband. We were supposed to watch it last night but couldn’t get a seat.
Girls, I’m so sorry I missed last night’s GNO! If I knew the husband had a function to go to, I would’ve forced him to go so I could spend some time with you girls. Someone has to get married soon! Hehe.
Anyway, the movie. I can’t really say I like it very much but it is not really a movie to hate. I can never do reviews for movies, hence, I am not going to. However, I have much to say about the movie goers.
Ten things to take note if you’re going to the movies!
1. Switch off or put your mobile on silent mode!
2. No, no loud talking at all times. Maybe during the trailers or credits but softly- some of us love watching trailers too!
3. If you have middle seats, try to come in early! Don’t wait till the movie start and block others’ views or worst- make someone stand up to let you in!
4. If you have to leave in the middle of the movie, do it with minimal noise and actions!
5. Do not ever, ever kick the chair in front of you. Kerasahan! Banar!
6. If your mobile phone happens to ring, answer it quickly! Jangan buat inda tahu, we can tell where the ringing comes from!
7. Do not make sound effects. Enough said.
8. Little kids are for happy movies only. Okay not happy, but kids movies lah.
9. Be patient. Wait till those closer to the aisle to get up and go. Susah saja ter-trip orang.
10. Oh, don’t ask for ice with your drinks!
I bet there’s more.
We dropped by Shabby Chic (love the name of the shop!) and absolutely adore the things they sell. I told the husband that now, I would have something to do during my leave! I am also contemplating of buying few (more like 7 or 8!) books from Amazon to keep me occupied then- I am just waiting for the right time to click the OK button. Saying all that, I would probably end up not doing both!
Next week will be busy. I am co-ordinating an event for the bank and there’s an off-site meeting we have to attend. Plus, more weddings and doa selamats to attend.
Oh, I’m back on Sudoku. Its not good. I went out of my way to buy an eraser today.
Working Late
I haven’t arrived home from work anytime before 6pm this week.
Today, I had to attend a Speakers Club meeting for my boss at 5pm. It was my first time attending such meetings and I was invited to speak for the Table Topic or some sort. It didn’t end till past 6.30pm. I only arrived home just before 7pm.
I don’t like this. I don’t like arriving home long after the husband has arrived. I don’t like walking into the room to see the husband has started his mengaji.
Oh, I also don’t like walking through a half-lit office. I don’t like walking to the parking lot through the dark alley! I don’t like going up the lift and walking through the parking lot alone. And I LOATHE driving home at night!
If only I know everyday what time I will finish work.
So yes, I don’t like to work late. Period. However, this is the price I have to pay working for them.
It is still Hari Raya!
The husband and I just came back from my uda’s open house. We missed my muda’s open house last night and I completely forgt about a friend’s open house today. I’m blaming it on all the meds I have consumed in the past few days. Heh. If babu didn’t text me to remind of tonight, I would probably forget about it too.
So, I’m guessing raya is still here walaupun the wedding invites are already piling up on the table. Babu said that she has been going to weddings since last weekend. Tadi pun ia arah orang kahwin nya. Am guessing shiuk tu eh. Inda payah ia melagau orang open house. Sekali keraja saja- membagi makan hari raya sama open house. 2 in 1.
The husband was being loyar buruk earlier at Uda’s saying he will hold an open house on 29th Syawal but all is he going to serve are instant food- makanan tin sama maggi saja katanya. Mee Mawi kah, Mee Felix kah, Mee Siti Nurhaliza kah. We now think that babu took this seriously as before we left she said, ‘bah makanan light saja kalau inda. lapas isya cematu.’ Told the husband, ‘kalau babu serious, you in-charge tu eh’. So yes, another open house.
Ren, if babu is really serious and that its happening, you will be back! Hehe. Don’t worry, it won’t really be Mee Mawi. Habis-habis mee goreng si Ita saja tu. Huhu. (Btw, si Ika nada lagi. She went mental. Huhu.) See you soon, love! All the best for your finance exam tomorrow
And oh, si Ren lagi kan melagau open house when she gets back.
Batah lagi ni Hari Raya ani.
You know…
…through out the day and the days before, I would come across a moment where I thought, ‘this is a moment worth blogging, I shall blog about this later’. Other times I would go, ‘hey, maybe I am going to blog about …’
However, when I sit in front of the laptop, I would have nooo idea what to write on. Goldfish memory tah banar.
Perhaps it is showing that I have not yet settled down at work (I am going on leave in a few weeks AGAIN!) and I found out earlier that we are visiting a relative tomorrow for Hari Raya. Alum tah abis banar hari raya ani usulnya.
On top of that, I have caught the flu! This is perhaps the second time within a month that I’m sick. It started with an itchy throat on Sunday, coughs on Monday and flu & fever today. I’m on self meds already (malas go clinic again!) and hopefully, I get better soon.
Ooh. I have some pictures to be posted (as soon as I get myself to transfer it to the laptop and resize it, of course!) of Maisara and few cases of YPIs. What? You don’t know what YPIs are? You Parking Idiot, bah! Go visit their site. Now I’m more careful with my parking- afraid that my car will turn up there! Haha.
The meds have kick in. Off to bed I go. G’nite pretty people.
Ooooh.
I’m just so knackered- physically & mentally.
So many things have been happening over the past week and has left me with little (if there was any to begin with!) creativity to write a proper post. I don’t even have photos to post as it became too busy to even consider photo-taking!
It will be more hari raya visits this weekend with little time left to put the feet up.
Until work is all settled again and I have recovered from all the Hari Raya visits, then insya Allah, I will write a proper post.
Will reply comments the soonest
